Petr Hlavacek is a West Coast based professional landscape photographer. He specialises in photographing glacier and ice imagery, and the fascinating landscapes of the West Coast of the Southern Alps in the South Island of New Zealand.
In 2001 Petr began photographing his favourite subject - the glaciers and its ice. Since then Petr has been compiling a large, comprehensive and unique collection of glacier and ice images depicting and showcasing this stunning icy environment in every season and weather condition.
His interest in icy subjects has brought Petr together with New Zealand’s leading glaciologists whom he often collaborates with on various projects.

| The incredible diversity of the West Coast inspired Petr to create an image stock website “nzicescapes.com” specialising in this region. It serves as an image resource for various people, such as designers, photographers, environmental and educational organisations, artists, government bodies and many others.
Petr's images are used by many publishers, here in New Zealand and overseas. He licenses his imagery through his STOCK website www.nzicescapes.com to various clients such as product makers, publishers, travel agents, marketing organizations and others.
Not neglecting other parts of New Zealand, images from other regions of New Zealand are also included and available in Petr's stock image library.
As well as running the stock photo library nzicescapes.com and working on assignments for New Zealand and overseas clients, Petr produces a range of products too. These include beautiful large Info Cards with glacier/West Coast information on the reverse side, bookmarks, booklets of postcards, posters and calendars. Petr's images are also available as Fine Prints. His Limited Edition of 16 archival prints on canvas are on permanent gallery display in the Glacier Centre “Hukawai” in Franz Josef. | Petr still likes shooting his 35mm Fuji Provia transparencies on his favourite Nikon gear. These transparencies make up most of his photo library. Lately, he has added work with Nikon Digital.
